Charlie Burchill, the band's founder member and guitarist, brought Paul in to produce a string arrangement for the single, Space. The 30-odd string section was in contrast to the new American-garage vibe that the band was heading down, bringing a rich and dense texture to the otherwise raw track. Controversy ensued when much of this album was obtained by a Spanish radio DJ and released on the web in unfinished form. The legal implications meant fans had to wait until the completed album was released as part of the Simple Minds Silver Box set.
