A compilation of some of the best tracks from the original soundtrack of the award winning, Emmy nominated BBC series, Galapagos.
The accompanying orchestral soundtrack, composed and conducted by Paul Leonard-Morgan, was performed and recorded in London and Prague.
For the Prague session, Paul was accompanied to the picturesque capital by engineer Geoff Foster (The Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace) from London's Air Studios. They recorded in the city’s beautiful Rudolfinum Concert Hall, a neo-renaissance building which is home to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The London recording sessions took place over two days in the legendary Angel Studios. Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and mixed by Steve Price (Planet Earth, Mamma Mia, The Full Monty). Additional brass was performed by members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and recorded in Glasgow’s CaVa studios. The soundtrack also features the stunning vocals of Ann de Renais (as featured in the Lord Of The Rings Symphony Tour).
The epic series explores the history, landscape and wildlife of the Galapagos Islands - a small cluster of volcanic islands scattered in the South Pacific. With voiceover by Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton and taking over 3 years to film, the series was only the second ever from the BBC to be shot in HD. The stunning aerial images and satellite footage gave a never-seen-before perspective of these islands, showcasing their volcanic summits, lava flows and breathtaking landscapes.
